Planning a drive on Colorado I-70? Check the Eisenhower Tunnel and Vail Pass separately, not just a single corridor status, before you leave. In a storm, conditions can change from one side of a pass to the other. This site is built for that check, with Traction Law and Chain Law status, camera areas, and weather locations for the I-70 Mountain Corridor, from Denver through Morrison, Idaho Springs, and Georgetown, through the Eisenhower Tunnel, through Silverthorne, over Vail Pass, and on through Eagle and Glenwood Springs toward Grand Junction.
A clear tunnel does not mean Vail Pass is clear, and the reverse is also true. The tunnel is at 11,158 feet at the west portal and 11,013 feet at the east portal. Vail Pass is at 10,666 feet. US-6 Loveland Pass, at 11,992 feet, is a separate alternate route, not an I-70 highway, and it can close on its own.
