Denver to Breckenridge Road Conditions: I-70 to Silverthorne

Static image, not a live camera. Live status for this trip is pending COtrip connection.
From Denver, I-70 heads west through Idaho Springs and Georgetown, through the Eisenhower Johnson Memorial Tunnel, to Silverthorne. From Silverthorne, the route turns north to Breckenridge, a ski town in the Tenmile Range. The hardest part of this trip is usually the I-70 passes, not the final leg into town, so check the tunnel status first, then check local road conditions into Breckenridge. The Silverthorne to Breckenridge road number is unverified in prep, so no route number is published for that leg here.
Good to know
- Traction Law is in effect Sep 1 to May 31 on the I-70 Mountain Corridor between Dotsero and Morrison, per CDOT.
- If the Passenger Vehicle Chain Law is in effect, every vehicle must have chains or an approved alternative traction device.
- Check the Eisenhower Tunnel and Vail Pass separately where the route uses them. If the tunnel is closed to your vehicle type, check US-6 Loveland Pass as an alternate, and check its live status separately.
